About this trek
The Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) trek is one of the most iconic trekking routes in Nepal, offering a perfect blend of natural beauty, cultural richness, and high-altitude adventure. The trek takes you deep into the heart of the Annapurna Conservation Area, eventually leading to the stunning natural amphitheater of the Annapurna Sanctuary, with panoramic views of towering peaks such as Annapurna I (8,091 m), Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Hiunchuli, and Annapurna South.
Starting typically from Pokhara, the trail winds through traditional Gurung and Magar villages, lush rhododendron forests, and terraced fields, before ascending into alpine landscapes. The journey combines challenging climbs and descents, especially around Chhomrong and Deurali, with the reward of reaching Annapurna Base Camp at 4,130 meters, surrounded by some of the highest and most beautiful mountains on Earth.
Unlike more remote or high-altitude treks, ABC offers comfortable teahouse accommodations, diverse flora and fauna, and a culturally immersive experience. It's an excellent trek for those with moderate fitness levels looking to experience the grandeur of the Himalayas without extreme technical demands.
